When the saints go marching in – sim

When the saints go marching in, è un gospel tradizionale, inserito sia nella sezione Spirituals sia in Centenario 1GM, quale omaggio alle truppe americane che sono arrivate in Europa a fianco dell’Intesa. Infatti, tra i primi volontari sbarcati c’era un ragazzo diciassettenne, trombettiere del 316° reggimento, che ci rimette un polmone per l’iprite; si chiamava Louis Armstrong.

Versione S.I.M., strutturata in maniera flessibile, per adeguarsi ad ogni tipo di organico. Oltre alla serie completa di strumenti solistici, raggruppati in base all’altezza, ci sono le parti per basso, pianoforte e percussioni. Dal duo pianoforte/strumento solista, alle varie combinazioni di strumenti con o senza il pianoforte e la batteria, la varietà di soluzioni possibili è veramente enorme. Le parti staccate sono già adattate agli strumenti traspositori.
